What is an NFTypeface™?
An NFTypeface™ is a font that has been designed to incorporate unique visual attributes across its character set, so that no two alphabets are the same. This is achieved through a combination of modular design and generative scripts.
Each unique version of each NFTypeface™ can legally have only one owner at a time, and this ownership is stored and verifiable on a digital ledger called a blockchain.Close
Why were they created?
The NFTy.pe™ platform aims to address various issues within the type design industry, such as the commoditisation of type design and limiting the effects of font piracy.
It also aims to try and evolve the outdated financial model within type design, allowing designers to be compensated for their role in the sale of NFTypefaces™ to clients and to sell those that they no longer need.

How can I use an NFTypeface™?
You may use your NFTypeface™ in any type of project, commercial or personal. This includes - but is not limited to - branding and logo design, printed matter, title design, motion graphics and online projects.
Should a client wish to purchase the ownership of an NFTypeface™, they will do so directly from you (learn more here) and legal ownership will transfer to them.

NFType™ User License
i. Ownership
Each NFTypeface™ can have only one legal owner at any one time - be that an individual or a business entity.
Ownership of the NFTypeface™ is mediated entirely by the Smart Contract and the Ethereum Network: at no point may we seize, freeze, or otherwise modify the ownership of any NFTypeface.
Only the legal, cryptographically verified owner may retain a working font file.
Ownership of an NFTypeface™ does not grant you intellectual property rights. Intellectual property rights over the design of the typeface remain the property of the originating designer, studio or foundry.
ii. Modification
You may not edit, modify or rename the NFTypeface™ source (.otf) file in any way.
iii. Personal Use.
Subject to your continued compliance with these Terms, NFTy.pe™ and the originating designer, studio or foundry grant you a worldwide, royalty-free license to use and display the purchased NFTypeface, along with any extensions that you choose to create for your own personal, non-commercial use.
iv. Commercial Use.
Subject to your continued compliance with these Terms, NFTy.pe™ and the originating designer, studio or foundry grants you an unlimited, worldwide license to use and display the NFTypeface™ in the creation of commercial works including but not limited to logo design and brand identity, use in editorial and publishing, title design and motion graphics, social media, poster design and all applications which reasonably fall under the term ‘Graphic Design’.
v. Sale and Transfer of Ownership
The sale of any NFTypeface™ immediately transfers all usage and ownership rights to the the new owner, as verified on the Ethereum blockchain.
You may not legally keep duplicate files or copies of the NFTypeface™ and must cease all use of the font and font file.
When the deliverable file is an uneditable image or an outlined vector file - not live text - transfer of ownership is not required.
vi. Duplication / distribution
You may not duplicate any NFTypeface™ for sale.
Should a client wish to use the NFTypeface™ in any communications including advertising, social media, marketing, brand communications, motion graphics and anything reasonably termed Graphic Design, they must acquire ownership from you, through a private transaction which may take place on any NFT marketplace.
Business entities requiring multiple copies of a typeface and who legally own the original NFTypeface™ file may duplicate the file for distribution internally only, providing they are the cryptographically verified owners of the NFTypeface™.
Once the transfer of ownership is complete, you agree to delete any digital copies of the NFTypeface™ under penalty of law.

Who owns the IP?
The NFTypeface™ and its design remains the intellectual property of the originating designer or studio.

How do I sell an NFTypeface™?
You are able to sell your NFTypefaces™ on the secondary market through any of the various NFT marketplaces with whom you have an account — for example OpenSea, KnownOrigin, Rarible or Nifty Gateway etc.
In the event that a client wishes to purchase the ownership of an NFTypeface™ from you, this may be completed via a private transaction on any of the same marketplaces. For a guide on how to do this on OpenSea, click here.
You are free to set a price point of your own choosing when selling an NFTypeface™. Carbon Negative Pledge
At the end of each release, any carbon emissions created as a result of the sale are tracked and a percentage of sales will be given to carbon offset initiatives to offset more CO2 than it produced.
By default, these funds will go to Just One Tree, but participating designers / studios may nominate other groups or initiatives.Close
